General Thoughts That Entertain Me
How It's Going So Far
So far this year, I have stuck to my goal of hitting the gym at least 3 times a week. I replaced my swim mp3 player at the end of last year and put music on it. I have yet to figure out how to shuffle the songs on it, so I have been listening to ABBA a lot. It seems that the player alphabetizes the music by artist. I hope to figure that out soon.
I have also not figured out how to hide future months on the website here, but I figure I should be writing more and not be horribly concerned about it. Excellence, not perfection, as always. Please be patient with me until I figure that out, too.
I have managed to finish 9 books so far this year. My goal is 150. I can do this! Unfortunately, I have picked several large books to read this year, so I'm not going as quickly as I could be.
I have managed to schedule several planned pajama days. No, these are not sick days. They are just days that I plan on staying home, in my pajamas. I do chores and catch up, but I don't allow myself to leave the house on these days. I have run into trouble when it's garbage night, since the neighbors don't need to see me taking out the garbage bins in PJs. It's still a work in progress, among other things.
I made all of my doctor appointments for the year, but I ended up having to contact my doctor for a prescription refill. It used to be that they would refill it if you've seen the doctor within the last year, but now it's every 6 months. So, one more appointment had to be made! There are worse things that could have happened, I guess.
I have to post reviews that I wrote this year. I plan to get those posted on pajama days, between chores.
New Year. New and Used Thoughts.
Last night was an early night. I picked up my daughter and her friend after they had dinner. We were settled into the house before 8pm. Traditionally, we have appetizers for dinner on New Year's Eve. My children and their friends cooked and we had a quiet dinner/appetizer session/dessert session, and I was asleep by 10:30. Molly, the dog, is normally in bed by 8:30, but she had to stay awake since everyone was up and going still. She woke up this morning acting like she had a hangover.
I had my todo list, so Molly had to get up and work through the hangover. She required extra pets, so I got off to a late start.
My first goal was to stay in my pajamas today. My friends had invited me to a movie, but I had already had today's PJ outfit planned, and I had spent much of the weekend out of the house. It just wasn't going to happen today. I had changed my sheets over the weekend, too, so that was already done. I am working on other chores, such as laundry, dishes and organizing. I seem to have found part of my desk that was missing. It's still a work in progress, though.
I wanted to organize the website here. It seems I've made more of a mess of it than intended, so I will be working on it over the year. My editing program shows that the future months are hidden, but it seems that they are not. I hope to figure that out. Until I figure it out, please ignore any months that have not happened yet.
I put together a spreadsheet to track my book goals for 2024. Planned books for 2024 I have been trying to fill it out. I have also set my Goodreads goal, but Goodreads doesn't seem to be fully functional today. I was able to write one review, but it was difficult to post it. I hope they get it together soon.
I made the website's Google calendar available, but I left out times and locations. It's just so that others know what adventures I might be writing about.
I am wading through emails, deleting junk and addressing the important items. I found a few library classes and events that I might attend soon. I have also been going through paper mail and getting rid of stuff that I don't need and addressing the other items that arrived.
I have mostly packed for tomorrow's gym trip. I'm anxious to get going again, after a week off. With my gym buddy being sick and the holidays here, I didn't find myself as motivated to get there. I replaced my swim mp3 player that broke a few months ago, and spent time yesterday charging it and putting the music back on it. I feel prepared, other than not having my swim watch that broke the week before the mp3 player.
I have a 5k coming up, and I hope I am prepared enough to walk it. I still need to get my shuttle pass, and I hope to do that tomorrow.
Work in Progress
Late last year, I started thinking of what I can do with the website/blog. Wordpress was charging me way too much, and Google sites limits what I can do. I am stuck with a format I am not in love with, and colors that are boring. I'm still looking for somewhere cheapish that will let me do what I want with formatting. Part of that, though, is learning how to set up a website. I'm debating classes vs books. I'm happy to receive recommendations if anyone can help.
I would love to be able to have the subscribe feature and to have people comment on my posts. Also, I would love to schedule posts to automatically post those that I have pre-written. I am sure there are other things that I want to see. I would love to learn how to do RSVP's for the bookclub website that I help with. I know that someone knows how to do all that, but that someone isn't me, yet.
