Yes, I've been reading, but not at the usual pace. I have been finishing and kind of reviewing, but not fully. I need to work on getting more reviews up.
This weekend I am away at a girls craft weekend. I am just happy to get away. I doubt much crafting will be done on my part. I brought my laptop with plans to update here. Â
I have been on vacations and have photos that I need to organize and take off my phone. That will be an upcoming project.
Don't Be Mean to 13 by Douglas Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I picked this up as a freebie online.
It's a cute, fact-filled story about superstitions and they are presented in a fun way with vocabulary words.
I highly recommend this book.
We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I picked this up on the recommendations of several people.
I didn't know it was such a short book. I was amazed that there was so much information in it. This was such a well-thought-out essay on feminism.
I highly recommend this book to both men and women.
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I picked this up because I liked most of the other books in the series.
This was definitely better than the previous prequel, and I was completely sure I was going to rate it 5 stars until I hit the second to last chapter and had Poe thrown at me for way way too long. If I could have given it 4.5 stars, I would have.
I recommend this book.
Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I picked this up on a recommendation from several people.
I loved this book! It was so much fun and didn't really cross over into the ridiculous, but it toed the line. I loved the characters and the story.
I would recommend this book.
Deep End by Ali Hazelwood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked this up because I was looking for light reading.
I enjoyed the story, but wasn't expecting it to be as spicy as it was. I connected with the characters and wanted to know how it was going to end. I read it faster than I thought I would.
I recommend the book.
Ten Stories Tall: Book 3 by Corinne Gattmann
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked this up because it was a freebie.
It is a book that tells stories but has questions before and after each story. It keeps you thinking while you read.
I recommend this as a bedtime story and a way to start discussions with a child.
The Forgotten Chapter by Pam Jenoff
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked this up because I enjoyed the other books in this series.
This book dragged along at the beginning and didn't pick up until about halfway through. I enjoyed it once it picked up, but the beginning didn't allow me to give it 5 stars.
I slightly recommend this book if you can look past the beginning.
Nighty Night Turtle Tales by Samuel DenHartog
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked this up because it was a freebie.
I enjoyed the cute stories that could take several nights to read, if you're reading them for bedtime stories. The adventures that the turtles get into are cute.
I recommend this book.
What Color Is the Baby?: A Celebration of Skin Tones by Harshini Vankineni
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I picked this up on a whim from the library.
I enjoyed this story celebrating family. I loved how the big sister had the right attitude from the beginning. I really connected with her character.
I highly recommend this book.
Nighty Night Pig Tales by Samuel DenHartog
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked this up because it was a freebie.
The stories are cute for bedtime stories. I would have thought there might be more illustrations, but it is a good book for bedtime stories.
I recommend this book.
